PSG advanced to their second Champions League final in five years as they beat Arsenal 2-1 at the Parc des Princes to win their semifinal tie against the Gunners 3-1 on aggregate. It was also PSG’s third successive win over Premier League opposition in the Champions League knockout stages, having previously beaten Liverpool in the Round of 16 and Aston Villa in the quarters.
Arsenal, who had Thomas Partey back from suspension, started strongly in the French capital, with Declan Rice, Gabriel Martinelli and Martin Odegaard all going close in the opening quarter of the game.
PSG however weathered the storm thanks to the brilliance of Gianluigi Donnarumma in goal, and then hit back with a stunner of their own from Spanish midfielder Fabian Ruiz.
The hosts had a chance to put the tie to bed when Myles Lewis-Skelly was penalised for handball, but Vitinha’s penalty was shockingly poor and was saved by David Raya.
Achraf Hakimi’s fine finish eventually saw the Parisians double their lead, but Bukayo Saka immediately pulled one back for the Gunners. Saka could’ve had another one, but blazed over from close range, and PSG held on to take the tie 3-1 on aggregate.
