Nottingham Forest 3-1 Brentford Match Report

Chris Wood scored a brace as Nottingham Forest began the new Premier League season with a 3-1 win over Brentford at the City Ground. Forest had been struggling for goals in pre-season- only 1 in seven fixtures, but Nuno Espirito Santo’s men took only five minutes to open their account here through New Zealander Wood.

The All Whites striker’s initial header from a corner ricochetted off a Brentford player and came back into his path, and he made no mistake with a smart finish. Forest’s second goal was even better, with new summer signing Dan Ndoye scoring a fabulous header from Morgan Gibbs-White’s cross to make it 2-0 to the home side.

The game was over as a contest in first-half stoppage time when Elliot Anderson’s defence-splitting pass from midfielder found Wood, and he rounded Kelleher in the Bees goal before making it 3-0.
Brentford did pull one back from the penalty spot through Igor Thiago after Ibrahim Sangare was penalised for handball, but Forest were deserved winners on the evening.

The Bees will take on Aston Villa in their next fixture while Forest will square off against newly crowned Community Shield champions Crystal Palace at Selhurst Park.
