West Ham United produced a dramatic turnaround at the London Stadium, scoring three times in seven minutes to beat Portsmouth in the first round of the Carabao Cup.
Portsmouth struck first when Adrian Segecic’s effort took a deflection before flying into the left side of the West Ham net.
The Hammers responded strongly before half-time, turning the game around in a decisive two-minute spell. Valentín Castellanos levelled the score before Jarrod Bowen struck to put Nuno Espirito Santo’s side ahead.
West Ham continued their surge after the break and extended their advantage through Castellanos. Bowen delivered a lofted cross into the area, with Castellanos rising to head the ball home.
The quick-fire comeback turned what had been a difficult start for West Ham into a convincing cup victory, with Portsmouth unable to recover after conceding three goals in a seven-minute period.
